22 Meetings in 5 Days

22 Meetings in 5 Days

I’m sitting at the airport lounge getting ready to board my flight to Toronto. And I’m gearing up for a hectic week.

Over the next 5 days I have 22 client and prospective client meetings scheduled.

There’s one thing I noticed and here is the lesson I want to share with you today…

That as soon as I decided to make the trip happen all kinds of opportunities started to appear.

My friends and family all said, “Michael, don’t make so many meetings; take some time to relax while you’re in Toronto.”

I take a different view…

I was able to lineup back to back meetings throughout the week – it’s an opportunity I wouldn’t miss.

It was only a few weeks ago that I decided to make this trip. One of my businesses is rising steadily and Toronto is a fast growing market for us. Once I put the wheels in motion there was no turning back.

The Opportunity

Either I make the most of this opportunity or I don’t go.

There’s one thing I noticed and here is the lesson I want to share with you today…

That as soon as I decided to make the trip happen all kinds of opportunities started to appear.

It’s like when you’re buying a new car. Before you buy it, you often don’t see too many cars of the same model on the road. As soon as you buy the car, you start seeing the same model everywhere.

Did everyone buy the car right after you?

Of course not.

Mind Tricks

It’s just that your mind is ‘playing a trick’ on you.

Once ‘your new car’ entered your mind, your brain became familiar with it.  It started recognizing it everywhere.

When you decide to take action your mind awakens and starts to see opportunities you wouldn’t have seen or noticed before.

And even though the car was all around you before you purchased it, the car simply wasn’t ‘in your mind’.

That’s why one of the most important factors in success is to decide what you want and then go after it. This is the opposite of what many people do by filling their brains with all kinds of ideas that they never execute on.

When you decide to take action your mind awakens and starts to see opportunities you wouldn’t have seen or noticed before.

The Trip

Back to my trip. I have existing clients in Toronto. But it wasn’t until I put the trip in motion that all kinds of companies and people that would be great to meet came onto my radar.

I went from 2 scheduled meetings to 20 within 3 days. And then to 22 meetings.

Sure, my team and I hustled to get things ready. But we didn’t see all the opportunities until we committed to making this happen.

Your Chance

So my friend, my question to you is, what area in your business can you focus more on and as a result see new opportunities to grow your business?

It may be an area you’ve been thinking about for a while. Or it may be something you’ve been wavering back and forth on.

In my case, it’s meeting directly with ideal buyers for my business.

Not sure? Look for the areas that have the greatest leverage. Where can your business get the greatest benefit from?

And what about taking that time to relax like my family and friends asked about? Well, that’s what evenings are for 🙂

Wishing you great success!

    Great post, inspirational.

  • The car example is an excellent analogy. And this is a great ride or die motto too: “Either I make the most of this opportunity or I don’t go.”
