Mind Games

Mind-Games

I love business.

The rush you get from closing a big deal.

The high you feel when your clients see the results of your advice and recommendations come to life.

It’s rewarding.

A common mistake beginners (and even veterans sometimes) make is to spend time focusing on the external obstacles they face.

But there’s something else I love about it….

It’s a level playing field.

It hardly ever matters where you come from. How much money you have or who you know. Sure, these things can make it easier, but they don’t guarantee success.

The Mistake

A common mistake beginners (and even veterans sometimes) make is to spend time focusing on the external obstacles they face.

Competition, RFPs, the economy, the time of year, and the list goes on…

STOP trying to control what’s happening outside.

WHY?

Because it’s out of your control.

The Answer

Instead, focus on what you can control.

Your marketing plan and how you implement it, your daily, weekly and monthly schedule and how you spend your time…and your education.

If you’re worried about competition or unsure how to best enter a new market, what should you do?

Your Options

The worst things you can do is put your head in the sand and spend your time worrying about it.

Your competitor and the market are things you can’t control.

So you have a few options…

You can try to figure things out yourself. You’ll likely spend some time spinning your wheels. You’ll learn some tough lessons. You’ll make some gains and you’ll have your share of losses too. That’s how it works. But do this consistently and get some advice along the way from books, courses, seminars, networking etc…and you’ll get there.

The most successful consultants and business owners that I know take a different approach. They get help. They invest in themselves and their education and go straight to the source they know will be able to help them.

It’s the same for top athletes and CEOs who turn to a coach.

It’s the not the cheapest option, but it’s the most direct and leads to the biggest rewards.

Zoom Ahead

It’s how you zoom past the obstacles you’re facing and learn exactly what you need to know so you can get to where you want to quickly and effectively.

Regardless of which option you choose, make sure you don’t spend time focusing on the things that are out of your control. Instead, focus on what you can control – YOURSELF and the actions you take.
