Increase Your Consulting Income in 10 Minutes

Ok, here’s your challenge if you choose to accept it.

Most of you won’t. You’ll be too scared or lazy. Some of you will and you’ll benefit from it.

Yes, I’ve made a bold statement. Yes, it sounds like hype.

I can assure you it’s not.

In just a minute I’m going to give you the details of this challenge…

If you’ve read our Consulting Success System you’ll know I’m a big believer in building and strengthening relationships with clients.

When done the right way, it can turn a small project into a large one. A one-time pay day into recurring annual income.

But now let’s get back to how you can make more money in the next 10 minutes.

Here’s what you need to do:

This involves contacting at least one consulting client if not more.

1. There are two approaches to this:

a) Think about the work you’re currently doing for your client and NOW think of what other services or products they would benefit from? What would be another way you can help them reach their goal?

b) Take 5 minutes and research their industry. Look for their competitors. Search their name. See what the latest news is. The key is finding information that is relevant to your CLIENT.

2. Your next step is to pick up the phone (the best way) or email your client. Tell them about your idea that would help their business, or the relevant news clipping or information you’ve found that “you thought they’d be interested in seeing.”3. There is no #3. That’s it. Two simple steps.

Why this works?

This works and will make you more money because clients are always open to new ideas that will help THEM make more money. If you can think of something that will, they will want to hear about it.

And, this also works because when you provide your clients with relevant information it automatically says to them that you really are on their side. That you’re going beyond just “doing your work”. They must really be important if you’re “just doing additional research on their company”. They don’t need to know it took you 5 minutes. The fact is, it shows you care and that translates into them wanting to continue working with you.

IMPORTANT NEXT STEP

Okay, so I said there are only 2 steps, but there is actually one more thing I’d like you to do if you choose to accept this challenge…

Do it right now! Don’t put it off for a couple of hours or days. If you really want to make more money and be more successful then put the excuses aside and make this happen this very moment.

(Even if it’s night time and you’re reading this, you can still get it done and email your clients.)

These are great tips. I will give them a go right now. Thank you.

    • Steve – thanks for the comment. Let me know how that works out for you?

  • Yes, people are always (well, usually) receptive to hearing ways that they can make more money… I use this concept when networking, also… Increase your social value by bringing great business ideas to your contacts – if they use your idea and it works brilliantly, you'll hold a special place in their hearts and mind! Keep your eye out in the newspaper for relevant articles or people, read with referral intent. Always enjoy reading – thanks!

  • It's the way I have been working since my startup in 2006. Has been brining recuring business ever since. As a public sector consultant the new ideas are on political and policy issues and less on money making ideas. I think the keybis focussing on value for clients. Which not necessarily always means makimg more money….

    • Tim – that's great to hear it's been working for you as well! Solid point on value being the key.

  • Thanks for the tips, and i will take these into consideration when consulting my next client. In my opinion these concepts will make more money and clients are always open to new ideas.

    • Midland – welcome and thanks for your first comment. Let us know how that works out for you.
