The Truth to Achieving “Instant” Results in Your Consulting Business

Instant results don’t exist

I know there are a lot of people out there who claim that it’s easy to achieve instant results.

What I want to share with you is, that it’s really just a fallacy. There is no such thing as instant results.

Yes, there are exceptions. Yes, there are possibilities for you and others to achieve what may seem like instant results. Yet, if you look at most of the great entrepreneurs and most of the great successful consultants out there (and, really, anyone in business) that has achieved success, it’s almost never overnight.

They’ve taken action. They’ve committed to moving forward. They’re not satisfied just standing still and observing. They’re not satisfied just collecting information.

It’s almost never instant.

Many steps on the path to success

What has happened is that they’ve taken the right steps over time.

They’ve found someone that can help them to get to where they want to go and they’ve learned to perfect the system that they’ve worked on day in and day out, that they’ve taken consistent action on. That has led up to that tipping point and that’s where they starting seeing success.

But it doesn’t happen overnight. It’s not instant gratification, instant success and instant results that so many people online these days like to talk about.

They try and make you think that, if you just sign up for this or take action on that, that tomorrow your world will be different! As if somehow you’ll go to sleep and wake up and you will now be rich. You know what? That’s ridiculous.

Not only is that insulting to you and to the marketplace, but it just isn’t true.

Exceptions are never the rule

What I want to share with you is the idea that you can see great results.

I look at many consultants who have gone through my coaching programs who have seen amazing results. Some in weeks, literally in a week, two weeks. Others have achieved $100,000 in new client business within seven weeks. I’ve had consultants generate millions of dollars in a matter of weeks by going through the coaching program and learning a process, but that is not the rule.

Those are amazing results. But not everyone will achieve results so quickly.

For some people, it will take longer, but this is what I can assure you: that if you don’t start taking action, that if you don’t make a commitment, that if you don’t make an investment in yourself, then you have no chance to see greater results, to achieve greater success.

That’s really what separates those that are committed to success, those that are playing at the highest levels of excellence and who ultimately see the best results.

They’ve taken action. They’ve committed to moving forward. They’re not satisfied just standing still and observing. They’re not satisfied just collecting information.

They’ve moved forward, they’ve taken action, they’ve made a decision.

From action comes success

I recognize that sometimes it can be uncertain or you might be feeling a fear around taking that action. I get that.

But if you really are committed to growing your business and to seeing better results than you’ve seen in the past, you cannot continue to do the same things that you’ve always done.

But by the mere fact that you’re making a decision, making a commitment to yourself and to you family and to your business to move forward and to invest. That will guarantee that you will see success.

That’s why the process is so important. I look at and think about when I started my consulting business.

When I was in Japan, I opened up an office for our consulting business over there, I was working with very large Japanese companies like Panasonic, Dow Jones, Financial Times, many other billion technology and B2B companies.

I had a lot of challenges at the beginning – but in the end, I had great success. We were very profitable, we were working with amazing top tier clients, both in Japan and around the world. It was a very lucrative, successful business.

If someone just looked at that end spot, they would say, “Oh, Michael, you have amazing connections. You’re working with some of the best in class companies. You’re in boardrooms speaking Japanese to Presidents and Directors of billion dollar companies. The fact that you can speak Japanese, that’s what must have made you successful or somehow you are lucky or somehow you’ve achieved great results. How can I do that quickly?”

The answer is there probably isn’t a way to just do that quickly.

That took years and a lot of hard work. That took hustling to get meetings, to follow-up, to be professional, to make an investment in myself, in my business and in relationships. That’s what paid off.

When you hear people talk about instant results, just be wary because it’s really unlikely that instant results are the norm. Yes, there can be an exception. Yes, it is possible to see results very quickly. I’ve seen many consultants achieve that in the work that I’ve done with them, but it doesn’t apply across the board for every single person, because some people will take a little bit longer to see results.

But by the mere fact that you’re making a decision, making a commitment to yourself and to you family and to your business to move forward and to invest. That will guarantee that you will see success.

It might not happen in days, it might not happen in weeks, but it will happen.

The only way that you can guarantee not to be successful is if you don’t take action. The more action that you take, the faster that you move, the faster you’ll see success, the greater the results that you’ll be able to achieve.

So, I want to encourage you and offer you those thoughts, because they’ve served my clients and me very well over the years.
