Aiming Too Broadly to Hit Consistently
Greg Provance is the owner of GP Hospitality Partners, a restaurant consulting firm that helps early-stage restaurant owners become more profitable and create more free time for themselves. Like many consultants, in the early days of his business, Greg understood his target market but only very broadly. He knew he wanted to help restaurant owners, but he couldn’t hone in on a more specific target that would be easier to hit with highly personalized messaging.
And since he had a broad target, he also had trouble crafting truly compelling messaging. He had deep expertise in some specific areas of restaurant consulting, chiefly in operations, but he wasn’t sure how to communicate his expertise to the right people in a powerful way.
